Local Chambers of Commerce for DE14 2EG. These can be an extraordinarily effective way of getting into the business community and / or getting things done. Equally they can be entirely useless depending on the chair. If they have networking events associated with them definitely go, and keep going, if you have a business that need local support. What you put in is exactly what you get out. Below is the national site. Watch this slot - it might improve!

Gordon Street Surgery

72 Gordon St, Burton-on-Trent DE14 2JA, UK – 01283 563175

Firstly I acknowledge that you could possibly give up before you actually get an appointment, It's a pain when you have to get to work and a child to school for 8.30 knowing that by 8.40 every appointment will be gone. However.... I find Dr Eileen and Sally Sharp (advanced nurse practitioner) amongst the most helpful, trustworthy and reliable professionals I have ever met (I meet a fair few working in the NHS). Yes the practice is over subscribed and getting an actual appt is a nightmare but I would rather fight for an appt and be seen by either of the above (Sally has virtually same ability to diagnose and prescribe as a doctor.. not only as good as any doctor..She's better) than go anywhere else. I can't comment on other GPs there, as i rarely see anyone else. I judge professionals by how much i trust them with my child... i would trust Dr Eileen or Sally all day with my girl's health. Reception staff- yes they can be brusque but they have a tough job. I have found that the "ruder" receptionists have now gone -leaving more helpful staff. Understanding how GP practises are funded I can totally see why this practise has to be resourceful with what little it has for a massive client group with complex health needs. You can thank your Tory Government for that... we are in the full swings of post code care. People need to use GP wisely. Use chemists and pharmacy more and be willing to pay for over the counter remedies , even for children, unless they are genuinely in need of a free prescription... this will help release the pressure they are under at the surgery. Compared to Australia where I paid £75 for literally a 40 second appt (I didn't even get to sit down and that was WITH health insurance!) it's great care.

I don't get why this place gets so many bad reviews. I've used Gordon Street all my life and I've never had an issue booking an appointment.

NHS Direct is now NHS 24. Just dial 111 to speak to a professional or click the link below for there self help website. Lots of really useful info but keep clear of heart surgery! If in doubt ask your GP or call 111. Good luck.

Queen's Hospital

Belvedere Rd, Burton-on-Trent DE13 0RB, UK – 01283 566333

Long wait but once initial triage was done very swift. X ray department very efficient and friendly and the final minor surgery done just as quick. As pleasurable as it can be given the circumstances. Very friendly staff. Thankyou all.

Excellent service recently received when my mother was having breathing difficulties. The only reason for not awarding 5 stars was there is an awful lot of building work going on and the noise was unbearable. I appreciate they are doing their best to upgrade the hospital but when people are really poorly the banging is bad enough without the lack of respect from builders that people are ill. It was not nice being with someone so poorly and having the builders at the bottom of the bed quite literally.

Give and get free stuff. Here you will find lots of items that people are willing to give away, for FREE! This is instead of taking them to a local landfill site. The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.
We all know that we need to recycle more - and this is a great way of doing it.

Gurkha Curry Lounge/ Indian Restaurant Burton

48 Station St, Burton-on-Trent DE14 1AX, UK – 01283 510955

A colleague advised me to try the food here... And it is wonderful. I would recommend the chef's specials. I had a delightful meal (my first ever fish curry!) Service and atmosphere are brilliant. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and hope to visit again.

Oct 2017 - I have never rated a restaurant before but I felt compelled to do so after staying an evening in Burton Upon Trent on a business trip, hopefully one of many as I intend to re-visit this fabulous restaurant. The service was impeccable, the staff were polite from start to finish, and the food was incredible. I have eaten in many good quality Indian restaurants and this one is up there with the best. Try the Everest Beer if you're a lager drinker, not my usual preference, it has a slight sweetness that complemented the food. 5+ ☺ Update.. Dec 2017 - Visited again, like I said I would when staying in Burton again. Food and service just as good as my last visit. Still 5+ for me.. ☺ However I must try something different on the menu next time I visit, difficult when you really enjoy particular dishes eaten before though..

Veneziaas Italian Restaurant

1 Guild St, Burton-on-Trent DE14 1NA, UK – 01283 529250

Pleasantly surprised by our last visit here. We went here on previous occasions and were underwhelmed with the flavours of the dishes. However on our last visit, the dishes had good flavour and clearly made with attention to detail and with some passion. Our party had a number of different pasta dishes and they all looked and tasted unique rather than using the same pasta and base sauce. Would recommend.

Had a nice warm welcome and the settings of the table was lovely. The food was really great and all the staff were friendly, will definitely be coming again.

Favourite Thai Restaurant

7-8 Market Place, Burton-on-Trent DE14 1HA, UK – 01283 536099

First time visiting here and would absolutely come again! Loads of choice (considering two of us are vegans!) and food was delicious! The staff were so polite and friendly, parking not far away and easy to find. Nice location in the market square, decor and music nice. Portion size just right for us, it was a birthday visit and they didn’t know in advance, yet they played us happy birthday and all the staff joined in; we even got a candle in our desserts! Thank you for a great visit!

Amazing food, warm welcoming staff. They were just about to close when we popped our head through the door to see if we could grab a quick bite, they were more than happy to have us. The food was delicious, best Thai food We’ve had in the UK. Will be coming here again when we’re in burton. 20/10

Nursery and Preschools

Chuckle Bunnies Day Nursery

71 Branston Rd, Burton-on-Trent DE14 3BY, UK – 01283 539202

We have an incredibly happy and intelligent little Boy who has attended Chuckle Bunnies from 11 months old. The staff are very friendly and take real time and effort to settle them into the nursery. He now has a brilliant bond with all the staff. We are really happy with his development and our little boy is achieving really well. We would definitely recommend this nursery if you want a homely and family feel for your little one.

Chuckle bunnies has been a big part in my children’s early years development, I have two children aged 12 and 4 year, my oldest was a head when he got to school being able to write his name and other letter, he could read some words, my 4 year old is the same and she is not at school yet, she is writing more words and knows all the sounds to all the letters. My youngest can count to 50 and my oldest could count to 100 by the time he started school. All the staff are very friendly and always goes out of there way to make my child welcome, giving 110% both my children love being at nursery and I have trouble getting they to come home. My oldest can’t wait to pick up the youngest and he is always talking about all the things he did, I know my youngest is going to miss everyone when she goes to school.

Today, with my business Immersive Theatres, I delivered a 7m digital planetarium experience to 180 Year 1 & Year 2 pupils at Rykneld Primary School. I was warmly welcomed by the staff and found the hall prepared just as I had requested. The morning was well organised with groups arriving prepared. The excited but well-behaved students enjoyed a rich selection of content: peering up at the planetarium night sky, visiting the International Space Station and joining both Little Star and Plato the Mole on adventures to learn about the Solar System and the various types of stars. Thank you Rykneld Primary for a very pleasant visit.

Christ Church Primary School and Nursery

Dale St, Burton upon Trent DE14 3TE, UK – 01283 247400

I'm was one the first Year 6's to leave Christ Church and take from me that this is very good school. The teachers support you in learning and when you feel upset, the teachers there always help you. Yes, some of the dinner ladies are a bit mean but other than that they keep you safe all the time. Most the the pupils PASSED there SAT's and the ones who didn't, only missed it by a mark. Every new school needs improvement but this school is nearly perfect. This is a small school but the heart that other pupils and the teachers have for each other is ALWAYS big. I am in my first few months of high school but Christ Church will ALWAYS have a place in my heart.

Amazing!!!!
