Stapenhill Medical Centre

Stapenhill Medical Centre/Fyfield Rd, Burton-on-Trent DE15 9QD, UK – 01283 565200

Getting an appointment is a nightmare. Have to phone am for an am appointment and after 2pm for an afternoon appointment. When trying to book by phone in advance they say 4 to 5 weeks! Doctors are very good when you finally get to see them.

Peel Croft Surgery: Dr K Pai

Went for a smear yesterday and after many years of not having one, Nurse Helen was great and made me feel very comfortable, dont put it off ladies !!

Was with this surgery for a year and a half, really nice staff, busy as every doctor's surgery is but generally really great

Gordon Street Surgery

Firstly I acknowledge that you could possibly give up before you actually get an appointment, It's a pain when you have to get to work and a child to school for 8.30 knowing that by 8.40 every appointment will be gone. However.... I find Dr Eileen and Sally Sharp (advanced nurse practitioner) amongst the most helpful, trustworthy and reliable professionals I have ever met (I meet a fair few working in the NHS). Yes the practice is over subscribed and getting an actual appt is a nightmare but I would rather fight for an appt and be seen by either of the above (Sally has virtually same ability to diagnose and prescribe as a doctor.. not only as good as any doctor..She's better) than go anywhere else. I can't comment on other GPs there, as i rarely see anyone else. I judge professionals by how much i trust them with my child... i would trust Dr Eileen or Sally all day with my girl's health. Reception staff- yes they can be brusque but they have a tough job. I have found that the "ruder" receptionists have now gone -leaving more helpful staff. Understanding how GP practises are funded I can totally see why this practise has to be resourceful with what little it has for a massive client group with complex health needs. You can thank your Tory Government for that... we are in the full swings of post code care. People need to use GP wisely. Use chemists and pharmacy more and be willing to pay for over the counter remedies , even for children, unless they are genuinely in need of a free prescription... this will help release the pressure they are under at the surgery. Compared to Australia where I paid £75 for literally a 40 second appt (I didn't even get to sit down and that was WITH health insurance!) it's great care.

I don't get why this place gets so many bad reviews. I've used Gordon Street all my life and I've never had an issue booking an appointment.

NHS Direct is now NHS 24. Just dial 111 to speak to a professional or click the link below for there self help website. Lots of really useful info but keep clear of heart surgery! If in doubt ask your GP or call 111. Good luck.
